Gale’s Growth
Since launching in 2016, Gale has expanded its operation from Florida to 39 states. This growth has been achieved despite historic labor shortages and the ongoing impact of COVID-19. Every five minutes, another nursing or nursing assistant applies to join Gale.
Gale recently secured $60 million in funding from FTV Capital, a sector-focused growth equity investment firm, that will help Gale continue its expansion in the $24.7 billion healthcare temporary staffing market.
In the past year alone, Gale doubled the size of its national clinical workforce, and expanded services to include travel nurses and permanent employee placements so that healthcare facilities have a suite of options to meet their staffing needs. The company has also broadened its client base from nursing homes and assisted living facilities to hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. Additionally, Gale is licensing its software to help other healthcare staffing firms expand their service capabilities. Most recently, Gale’s parent company launched Springboard, Inc. to help healthcare facilities and other sectors with non-clinical staffing needs.
Founded with a Mission to Address the Nursing Shortage
Braswell was recently named Entrepreneur Of The Year Florida by Ernst & Young LLP. He launched Gale in 2016 after 30 years in healthcare staffing where he relied on continuous calling and texting to try and fill open nursing shifts. Recognizing the power of other “on-demand” models, he realized technology was the answer.
Six months later, Gale was born. Named in honor of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, Gale has been a pioneer in bringing innovations to a 21st century healthcare challenge— the shortage of nurses across the country.
A 2022 survey by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living found 98 percent of nursing homes are experiencing staffing shortages, and 73 percent are concerned about having to close their doors.

Companies on the 2022 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2018 to 2021. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2018.
